This notice explains how we use the information you give us when you report animal cruelty. We process personal data in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
- Details of your report: the animal, the concern, the location and time, and any photos or video you attach.
- Your contact details (name, email, phone) — only if you choose to provide them. You may report anonymously.
- Technical data such as your IP address, kept for security and audit purposes.
Why we use it
We use your report to assess and investigate animal welfare concerns. Evidence and officer records may be retained for the purposes of investigation and any subsequent proceedings.
Who sees it
Your report is accessed by our welfare managers and the officer assigned to investigate. We may share information with the police or other authorities where necessary and lawful.
Your rights
You have rights over your personal data, including access and, in some cases, erasure. Note that if you report anonymously we hold no contact details and cannot link a request to your report.
